We get potential customers who want to redo their kitchens absolutely in a fresh way – beginning with a granite slab and chimney, to hobs, automated drawers and plumbing. Modular cupboards are also quite in demand for the kitchen . People opting for a modular kitchen, invest anywhere between Rs 1-2.25 lakhs on an average".
Considering the lifestyle , positioning and budget , one can choose from a variety functional designs, imparting a unique character to one's kitchen. "The ergonomically designed, touch-sensitive automated drawers and over-head cabinets are the latest fad, which might be slightly heavy on the pocket but completely worth a one-time investment," remarked Mr Arpan Sen, who has recently got a new kitchen installed in his Rajarhat home in Kolkata.
"Kitchen is truly the heart of the home and the wall between the living room and kitchen is breaking with this concept," says Mithu Chakraborty, Modular Kitchen Designer at MOBEL. "There is also a demand for making the kitchen space look trendy, fun and stylish. The main attention is still on functionality and efficiency , and the main areas of development are energy efficiency, green technology and durability, with an introduction of newer colors and designing," she added.
